CoESS’ national member federations (active and associated) cover a wide range of private security services, including, but certainly not limited to: commercial manned guarding, beat patrol, in-house manned security, event security (crowd control), airport security, door supervision, close protection, transport of valuables or Cash-In-Transit (CIT), cash processing, alarm monitoring, CCTV monitoring, mobile alarm response and private security training.
They are situated in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
These federations represent and defend the interests of their member companies, comprising major multinationals such as G4S, Securitas, KÖTTER, Prosegur, Brink’s and a large number of national players of different sizes, making up the total of 50,000 private security companies represented through CoESS.
Next to its national member federations, CoESS also includes two corresponding members, i.e. the European Security Transport Association (ESTA) and the Aviation Security Services Association International (ASSA-I). ESTA was founded in 1975. It represents the cash industry logistics businesses throughout Europe and 90% of the European Cash-In-Transit (CIT) industry. ESTA embodies 141 members of which 76 are effective, 56 adherent, 7 associate and 4 corresponding. ASSA-I was founded in June 2002. It represents the 7 most important European security companies active in providing civil aviation security services throughout Europe (70%). The activities of ASSA-I’s membership involve surveillance and protection of civil aviation, in particular with respect to the inspection of individuals, luggage and cargo.
